As I write this post, it is a bit warm. But for a few days the cooler air came for a visit here in central Florida. I even enjoyed my first cup of dark hot chocolate last weekend. Mmm.
I can’t complain about the warmer weather, but I love that it’s starting to feel a little more like Christmas! There’s something about Christmas that just makes me think it should be cool enough for long sleeves…and boots.
As a deafblind person, I want to be more mindful of what Christmas feels like rather than of what it looks like (or sounds like). Cooler weather, hot choclate warming my insides, tight embraces of family and friends, silky ribbons and smooth paper, needley trees…
But, really the temperature outside, steaming hot choclate, and trees should not be what makes this time of the year feel like Christmas.
What makes it feel like Christmas? LOVE. Christmas is a celebration of when LOVE came down. Over two thousand years ago, God demonstrated His tremendous LOVE for us through the gift of His Son. Immanuel. The Messiah. Our Savior.
So how can we focus on feeling this LOVE during this season? By reflecting on His many gifts. Every day think about the gifts you receive from God.
